Linn Ninka with Hiquphon OW2 Tweeter - Exakt Filters

 

For some time, Hiquphon's rather fine OW2-92 tweeter has been favoured as an upgrade or replacement unit for those speakers for which the original tweeters are no longer available. Speaker such as Katan, Ninka and Keilidh have often been equipped with OW2-92.

Whilst these drivers are a good match in a passive system with its large phase errors and crossover approximations, in an Exakt system, a more precise match is required.

Therefore SpeakerFilters is very pleased to announce the latest in a range of Exakt filters designed specifically for the OW2-92 tweeter in classic speakers - the evergreen Ninka floorstander.

Mission 78cse Aerogel Filters

From Cambridge company Mission, the 78cse Aerogel centre speaker contributes to an Exakt surround sound system, in a 3-way configuration (mid-bass, outer tweeters, centre tweeter).

Please note that early versions of this speaker (the 78c) were fitted with Keraform mid-bass drivers which suffered from ferrofluid leakage and subsequent failure.  The SpeakerFilters Exakt filters are designed using the later Aerogel mid-bass driver which is reliable and is said to sonically outperform the original driver.  The Keraform driver is a pale dull grey, the Aerogel is glossy mid blue in appearance.

Mission 783 Aerogel Floorstanders 1999 to 2004 Exakt Filters

Coming from Cambridge company Mission, the 783 floorstander is a sophisticated 3-way design. Internally the walls of the extremely heavy cabinet feature complex machining to break up standing waves and a side firing bass driver (which rolls of at a low 110Hz) brings the benefit of a larger driver to a slim cabinet.

Occasionally drivers fail or are damaged  - with Linn unable to supply the 015 nor 038 speakers any longer, many users have fitted the Hiquphon OW1 tweeter as a replacement. This means that the Exakt filters from Linn are no longer suitable with this modification.
