Introducing the www.speakerfilters.com supported rally team.

We first supported Tim Baker in his Talbot Sunbeam for the Mully Rally in October 2022.  Since then we've confirmed support for Tim and Neil for the 2023 season including their assault on the Heart of England Stage Rally Championship.  The pair are also competing in the www.asoc.co.uk Challenge sponsored by Ex-pressed Steel Panels and Neil is registered for the Broughton & Bretton Motor Club co-drivers' championship.

The car is a 1980 Talbot Sunbeam with the following spec:

Shell: Talbot Sunbeam 3-door hatchback with Series 2 lights and grille. Modifications include seam-welding, weld-in roll cage and alloy wheel arches

Engine: 2481cc Millington XE, Simpson custom exhaust

Transmission: Sadev 6 speed sequential, rear wheel drive, 4-link Atlas axle with limited slip differential

Suspension: Proflex

Brakes: AP Racing

Wheels: 15" diameter Revolution. 7" width for wet tyres, 8" width for dry tyres 

Equipment: Cobra seats, Stilo intercom, plumbed in fire extinguisher

Linn Ninka with Hiquphon OW1 Tweeter - Exakt Filters

For some time, Hiquphon's rather fine OW1-92 tweeter has been favoured as an upgrade or replacement unit for those speakers for which the original tweeters are no longer available. Speaker such as Katan, Ninka and Keilidh have often been equipped with OW1-92.

Whilst these drivers are a good match in a passive system with its large phase errors and crossover approximations, in an Exakt system, a more precise match is required.

Therefore SpeakerFilters is very pleased to announce the latest in a range of Exakt filters designed specifically for the OW1-92 tweeter in classic speakers - the evergreen Ninka floorstander.

SpeakerFilters Can Measure Your Speakers for Linn "SPACE" Room Optimisation

Linn publish a list of speakers that are compatible with their SPACE Optimisation technology which helps to take the effect of the room from your listening experience.  To take advantage of this, you can select these speakers from a list with the Konfig software used to configure your Linn DS or DSM.

SpeakerFilters has worked with a number of clients to add their speakers to the list available from Linn.  If your speakers are not on the list from Linn, reach out to speaker filters and we can work to have them published for you.  Contact us via design@speakerfilters.com

Mission 750 Limited Edition Standmount Exakt Filters

Mission 780 Aerogel Standmount Exakt Filters

SpeakerFilters are pleased to announce a new addition to the range of available filters.

A multi-award winning loudspeaker from Cambridge company Mission, the 780 standmount is a giant killer from the turn of the century.  It won the Best Stereo Speaker award from What Hifi in 2000 and 2001, along with product of the year.  It's also included in the magazine's Best Stereo Speakers of the 21st Century "hall of fame".

Please note that early versions of these speakers were fitted with Keraform mid-bass drivers which suffered from ferrofluid leakage and subsequent failure.  The SpeakerFilters Exakt filters are designed using the later Aerogel mid-bass driver which is reliable and is said to sonically outperform the original driver.  The Keraform driver is a pale dull grey, the Aerogel is glossy mid blue in appearance.

Graham Audio LS5/9 (modified) Exakt Filters

The Graham LS 5/9 is a modern re-creation of a classic and famous design. They have a reputation for a refined sound and a cultured presentation along with fantastic vocal reproduction.

Now this standmount can be aftermarket modified to work extremely well with Linn's Exakt system using filters from SpeakerFilters. The modifications required are straightforward and can be provided by SpeakerFilters or Manchester Audio dealer brianandtrevors, who also have the speakers available for demo in their comfortable listening rooms.

PMC Twenty.22 Exakt Filters

The very popular PMC Twenty series is a cornerstone of the UK hifi scene.  The modern "ATL" interpretation of the transmission line design has been a great success for the company.  This is one of the reasons SpeakerFilters has concentrated on these designs, along with their great sound.

Now the Twenty.22 standmount has been added to those speakers that can be improved by being part of a Linn Exakt system using filters from SpeakerFilters. Use them as the main stereo pair, or include them as part of a full surround sound experience - the only non-Linn surround speaker system available for Exakt and exclusive to SpeakerFilters.

The Mission 790 is a 2-way standmount design that's slim, elegant and features a complex curved cabinet.  Being a 79x product, its from the upper end of Mission's extremely comprehensive product range.

Mission 77c1 (Portrait) Exakt Filter

The Mission 77c1 is a 3-way centre speaker that's intended to be part of a home cinema system.  However, it also makes a good medium sized standmount speaker when used in portrait mode as a stereo pair.

Now it performs even better with Linn's Exakt systems using filters from SpeakerFilters.

So we're very pleased to add this interesting approach to the SpeakerFilters portfolio.

(Please note this is the 77c1 speaker which has 2x mid-bass drivers.  These filters are not compatible with the earlier 77c which has one mid-bass driver and one mid-bass passive radiator.  Please check your speaker carefull as they are not clearly labelled on the back panel.  To check, remove the front grille to check that the drivers look like the image below. PMC Twenty.21 Exakt Filters

SpeakerFilters are please to annouce the addition of the PMC Twenty.21 to the catalogue of Exakt filters available.

This compact quality standmount from the Professional Monitor Company in the UK is unusual in featuring an advanced transmission line design.  Note that the SpeakerFilters Exakt Filters improve the performance of this speaker, visible in the graph shown below.

Below is the frequency response (top trace) and phase response (bottom trace) of Twenty.21 when using Exakt Filters from SpeakerFilters.com.  The trace is 1/12 smoothed and the features below 100Hz include room effects and should be ignored. Heybrook HB3 Mk1 Exakt Filters

Naim SBL Exakt Filters

SpeakerFilters are pleased to announce a new addition to the range of available filters.

A legendary loudspeaker from Salisbury company Naim, the SBL Mk1 has a number of interesting design features, including separate boxes for each driver, a sloped baffle, internal porting and an external passive crossover. This external crossover means that there are no physical changes required to use the SBL in a Linn Exakt active system, making this a straightforward option.

So we're very pleased to add this rather special classic speaker to the SpeakerFilters portfolio.  Bringing the opportunity to apply Linn Exakt advantages to those who want to get the best out of their Naim speakers.  The filters were developed using a Linn Exakt front end and classic Naim NAP250 power amplifiers - a great balance of the best from both companies.  They're available to SBL users "off the shelf" right now in three flavours which are provided to every customer:

- Standard based on the original SNAXO crossover
- With an additional 1dB attenuation for the tweeter
- With an additional 1dB attenuation for the tweeter and a 1dB bass lift below 60Hz

"From SNAXO to Exakt: I was running a Naim SNAXO / SuperCap with my active SBLs - an improvement over passive - which gave great PRaT but they still sounded a bit forward. Gauder Akustik Isophon Corvara Exakt Filters Added To The Catalogue

SpeakerFilters are pleased to announce a new addition to the range of available filters.

Its certainly a niche speaker in the UK, but perhaps a little more popular in central Europe.  The Gauder Akustik Isophon Corvara is a distinctive speaker with is ridged aluminium enclosure finished in RAL colours, tear drop plan view and connections on the underside.  This unusual approach isn't confined to looks - the cabinet is constructed in sandwiches of aluminium, mdf, birch ply and sand filled.

So we're very pleased to add this distinctive speaker to the SpeakerFilters portfolio.
